Years 10 and 11 Geography students recently went on a field trip to Blackpool in order to carry out research to complete their controlled assessment. The forecast for the day said there would be rain and wind, but that's what all Geography field trips are like, right? When the party arrived they were greeted with 90mph winds and then a storm surge which flooded the promenade and the first two streets. After wading through flood water carrying students on their backs, the staff made the decision to cut the trip short to ensure everyone's safety. The journey back proved less than ideal as traffic problems extended a 2 and a half hour trip to a six hour journey. Hardly a perfect day, but throughout the whole experience, staff and students behaved impeccably and were a credit to the academy. On the bright side, it means we all get to go back and do it all over again!
