Peer Mentors took part in a national Anti-Bullying initiative called "BAKE A CAKE FOR CHILDLINE", and raised over £57.00 which they generously donated to the charity. On Friday 22nd November Julie Blyde (Academy Welfare Manager), Denver Jones (Academy Mentor and Counsellor) and all the Academy Peer Mentors, took part in a presentation during the year 7 assembly.

As part of the Children Services team we felt it was important for students to be aware of the various members of staff and peer groups who can support them with bullying issues. Our leading Peer Mentor Josh Hitchcock created an informative and well-illustrated short Anti-Bullying video and power point presentation, which achieved a round of applause from students and staff alike. Josh a year 10 student, also produced some very thought provoking Anti-bullying posters which were displayed around the Academy. Well Done Josh.

The Academy also invited students to enter an Anti-Bullying poetry and poster competition and all students taking part have received prizes for participating in this initiative and some of their work will be showcased around the Academy.

Our year 7 students were also issued with a copy of our “Parents Guide” leaflet, “What can we do about Bullying?”, which outlines how the Academy is committed to working with students and their families in order to combat bullying. We hope to make parents aware of how seriously we view bullying and what steps we are prepared to take to help minimise bullying incidents.
