4 . SAFER INTERNET DAY 4.1 . What is Safer Internet Day ?
Over the years , Safer Internet Day ( SID ) has become a landmark event in the online safety calendar . From cyberbullying to social networking , each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns . " Together for a better internet " is the slogan of the Safer Internet Day .
The first Safer Internet Day ( SID ) took place on 6 February 2004 , and was the brainchild of the Safe Borders project . It was celebrated in 14 countries ( 13 EU countries and Australia ).
Nowadays , SID is celebrated globally , each Tuesday of the second week of February each year , to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people via different activities in the schools around the world ( quizzes , drawings , songs , videos , online meetings …).
This year , Safer Internet Day was celebrated on 09th February , 2021 .
