GNCC series . ON THE PEGS got a chance to talk with Johnny G , aka " JG 69 Rippa ," to understand what ' s going on to make this season so successful .
WHAT ' S IT LIKE RACING A GNCC ? ARE YOU TRYING TO SETTLE INTO A NICE PACE , OR IS YOUR HEART RATE SPIKE AND ARMS PUMPED THE ENTIRE THREE HOURS ?
You can [ settle into a pace ] in some races ; I mean you ' re pushing for the whole three hours . It depends on how your day is going , how the track is , how you ' re riding it and managing the track . Sometimes I ' ll get behind the lead group and XC2 the first couple laps and even though I could pass them , I ' ll just stand up and ride behind them and cruise and try to save energy because I know I ' m still with the lead group and I can still see the leaders . So it ' s not a big deal .
The first hour the race or two hours doesn ' t really matter anyway ; it ' s the last hour that matters . I ' ll definitely try to save energy when I can and if I ' m capable of doing so .
BEING FROM THE NEW ENGLAND AREA , DO YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE MORE SUITED FOR THE WET AND SLICK TERRAIN THAN DRY EVENTS ?
Round 3 - US Sprint Enduro
Yeah , I feel like the wet stuff , the rocky stuff , the rooty stuff , and the more gnarly stuff for sure is definitely where I come from in New England .
