Wilson had grown weary of life be-
hind bars. His family had abandoned
him, he felt worthless, unloved, and
hopeless. He had lost all desire to
continue living and had decided to
end his life. What hope do Wilson and
other prisoners like him have?
The Bible says that the heart of
man plans his way, but the Lord es-
tablishes his steps (Proverbs 16:9).
I have yet to meet a prisoner who
planned in his heart to be incarcerated, and yet, the prisons of Colombia are
overpopulated with people who would rather be anywhere else. It is in this con-
text that God has used One Mission Society and Prison Fellowship to offer a
new path to thousands of prisoners incarcerated in the prisons of Colombia.
When Wilson seemed to have no hope, one of his cellmates invited him
to join The Prisoner´s Journey course, an eight-week interactive Bible study
through the Gospel of Mark in which prisoners are invited to answer these ques-
tions: Who is Jesus? What did he do and say? And what will you do with Jesus?
This is our model of evangelism within the prisons of Colombia.
