We know that, as Christians, we are accountable to God. We each will give an account of ourselves to Him( Romans 14:12). Scripture also tells us that we are accountable to our leaders, under whose authority He places us on Earth.
At One Mission Society, we are committed to being accountable for the resources God has provided to us, both human and financial. We remember the story of Elisha’ s servant Gehazi in 2 Kings 5:20 – 27. He was gripped by greed and misrepresented his master. When Elisha confronted him, he lied once again, foolishly hoping to veil his deed from the spirit of the prophet. Because of his refusal to acknowledge his desires to Elisha, Gehazi rationalized his disobedience and failed to consider the possible consequences of his actions. Our ability to deceive ourselves is boundless, and many can give the appearance of accountability while avoiding its reality.
After 112 years of ministry, we rely on our experience of being used by God to expand His kingdom, which has enabled us to learn from mistakes and develop extensive policies to ensure accountability in the operation of the Mission. As we steward our missionaries, ministries and finances, we do so in the spirit of scriptural exhortation given to elders and deacons who are to shepherd the flock of God, both spiritually and physically.
