Finances As founding members of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability ,
OMS has a history of leadership in this aspect of ministry . Our internal policy states that we must maintain membership in good standing with this organization .
OMS is passionate about being faithful to the intent of our donors . Policy dictates that all funds be disbursed for their designated purpose as communicated by the donor .
We also monitor all accounts closely in an effort to ensure that no deficits are incurred , but if they are , we quickly manage the situation . Policy dictates that money for projects can only be expended after the Lord provides funds .
Human Resources Throughout our long history , OMS has developed a culture of accountability and support of our missionaries . We have a clearly defined vetting process for new missionaries , including a comprehensive list of missionary qualifications that we look for in applicants . The 14 qualifications we look for include active involvement in a community of faith , a commitment to biblical holiness and the demonstration of biblical humility and a teachable spirit .
We have a disciplined reporting structure in the field , as well as in the homeland offices , that guarantees accountability by supervisors for all missionaries — for their public witness , their personal walk with the Lord and their ministry effectiveness .
We shepherd our missionaries with the example of our Chief Shepherd in mind , passionate about fulfilling our responsibility as outlined in 1 Peter . “ Be shepherds of God ’ s flock that is under your care , serving as overseers — not because you must , but because you are willing , as God wants you to be ; not greedy for money , but eager to serve ” ( 5:2 ).
Leadership Steve Moore , president of Missio Nexus , says this of OMS : “ The Great
Commission is too big for anyone to accomplish alone and too important not to try to do together . OMS has partnered with Missio Nexus through our parent body , Evangelical Fellowship of Mission Agencies , since 1947 . We have benefited from the involvement of OMS leadership at the board level , including current president , David Long , who served during a critical transition that included a rebranding process . I have the highest respect for the leadership and ministry of OMS and highly commend their work around the world .”
We know that God holds us accountable for fulfilling our responsibilities of shepherding our people and wisely using the financial resources that He has provided for us . We thank you for trusting and supporting One Mission Society .
