IB ART EXHIBITION A SUCCESS!
By: Rene Diaz
“I love to experiment with flashy materials that often catch people's eye. I think that my IW pages reflect my theme most flavorfully since I constantly used fashion magazines for colleges and try to recreate major designers’ sketches. Later on in my second year of IB art, I turned my love for collaging magazine clip outs into an actual, wearable dress. Fashion is a theme that can be explored through many different mediums, with many different artist to study, and endless forms of inspiration for my own work.”- Emma Spring
Last week, while the drama department put on a good show, the most important day in the life of an IB art student came: the exhibition. On Friday, April 4th, the art students completed their external assessments and exhibited about 100 beautiful and diverse art pieces made within the span of their two years in the program. Students Emma Spring, Jonathan Pulgarin, Duwine Flores, Hannah Kreinik, and Josue Hernandez showed off in a night to remember. They encompassed many themes (fantasy, horror, fashion, food, and dystopia) and utilized many mediums from painting to mixed media.
These two amazing nights of exhibition came from weeks of prepping with Mrs. Cabral to not only mount and set up their work, but to also talk about their compositions. One of the hardest parts of being an artist is to discuss their work. It is one thing to create something that is beautiful and call it a day. To be an artist is to be personable. To be an artist, you have to relate to your audience. These pieces were all successful at doing such.
And on behalf of the Ogden Owlett, we would like to say that we are proud of the art cohort and wish them the best of luck.
