Formerly known as Minardi , Toro Roso and AlphaTauri , Italy ’ s ‘ other ’ F1 team has undergone yet another identity transformation this year . Initially it was described as RB , derived from Racing Bulls . However inevitably that led to some confusion with its sister outfit , so latterly everyone has been encouraged to call it VCARB , an acronym that was already used in the type number of the 2024 car .
Whatever the name , the Faenza team has made decent progress this year , helped by the presence of long-time Enstone man Alan Permane as Racing Director .
In his fourth season Yuki Tsunoda has been a regular in both Q3 and the points , logging seventh places in Melbourne and Miami . Daniel Ricciardo , on the podium here with Red Bull back in 2014 , is continuing to rebuild his career . The Australian has been less consistent than his team mate , but he did start and finish fourth in the Miami sprint race , and qualified fifth in Montreal .

ALPINE
The organisation currently known as Alpine has twice won at Silverstone , with Johnny Herbert triumphing for Benetton in 1995 , and Alonso for Renault in 2006 . The team has been in a rebuilding process for some years now , but much of the momentum it had gained was lost with the poor form of the overweight A524 at the start of this season , which left Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon fighting even to make it out of Q1 . Progress was made and Ocon logged the first point of the season with 10th in Miami , and since then form has improved , with Gasly qualifying as high as seventh in Spain , although he lost a couple of spots in the race . His compatriot finished right behind making it a precious double points finish for the squad . There ’ s still a long way to go , and the news that Ocon won ’ t be staying in 2025 was an indication that change is under way in the camp . Another sign was the hiring last month of former Enstone boss Flavio Briatore as an advisor to Renault CEO Luca de Meo .
