A Bad Moms
Christmas
A sequel that’s definitely
on Santa’s naughty list!
The original Bad
Moms was a runaway
NOV
hit. Featuring
hilarious performances
from Mila Kunis, Kathryn
Hahn and Kristen Bell, the
rude, crude 2016 comedy
quadrupled its budget at
the worldwide box office and
then added another $100
million for good measure!
With these kinds of figures,
a quick-fire sequel was
inevitable and it comes in
the form of A Bad Moms
Christmas. Once again
starring Kunis, Hahn and
Bell (who really are an
immensely funny triple
act), this guffaw-inducing
follow-up ups the ante on
the original big time by having
the girls’ collective mothers
come to visit. Now here’s
where the film’s casting
department has really earned
its spurs, because these moms
are played by none other than
acting supremos Christine
Baranski, Susan Sarandon
and Cheryl Hines. Wow!
An oh-so-naughty festive
comedy that will have you
snorting out your mince pie.

3. it reteams
batman and
superman...
...with Gal Gadot’s Wonder
Woman. And Aquaman,
Flash and Cyborg
are also joining the
super-heroic team!
Mother!
Surrealist horror from
Darren Aronofsky...
The Hunger Games’
Jennifer Lawrence
NOV
and Skyfall’s Javier
Bardem star in this intriguing
psychological horror from
acclaimed director Darren
Aronofsky (The Fountain,
The Wrestler, Black Swan).
Aronofsky’s films tend to
be two things: on the surreal
side, yes, but also mind-
blowingly compelling, and
Mother! (note the exclamation
mark) looks no exception.
At time of writing, very little
was known about the film’s
plot, so let’s talk about the
gruesome poster instead.
Designed by James Jean, it
sees Jen’s character, who has
a waxy, unsettling sheen to
her skin, holding out her own
heart... perhaps as a gift?
(We know it’s her own heart
because she has a great big
hole in her chest. Yikes!)
With a classy supporting
cast that includes Ed Harris,
Michelle Pfeiffer, Kristen Wiig
and Domhnall Gleeson (who
can also be seen in September’s
Goodbye Christopher Robin
– see page 30), we are beside
ourselves with excitement for
this one (although possibly
a little bit scared too).
