Film Stars Don ’ t Die in Liverpool A touching May to September love story ...
17
NOV
Starring Jamie Bell , Julie Walters and Annette Bening , the
wonderfully titled Film Stars Don ’ t Die In Liverpool is based on the memoirs of Peter Turner , a Liverpudlian actor who , as a young man living in northern England , began an affair with the fêted Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame , a woman nearly 30 years his senior and a one-time Oscarwinner ( just to give you some idea of her Tinseltown clout ).
Directed by Scotland ’ s Paul McGuigan ( Victor Frankenstein , Wicker Park , Push ), working from Matt Greenhalgh ’ s script , the film explores Turner and Grahame ’ s relationship , which started as a bit of fun but then transformed into something much deeper . In fact , in her final days , it was Turner that Grahame wanted by her side , as this film so classily portrays .
Heartwarming , and a little heartbreaking too , this is an affecting British production with wonderful performances .

Suburbicon Quirky crime comedy with an A-list director and cast

NOV
George Clooney isn ’ t just an impossibly good-looking actor
( and an Oscar-winning one at that ), he ’ s also a superb writer and director , with The Ides of March and the six-time Academy Award-nominated Good Night , and Good Luck . among his career highlights .
He ’ s on writing and directing duties again in Suburbicon , a witty crime comedy that also sees the Coen brothers , Ethan and Joel , receiving a screenplay credit . This will be the fifth time Clooney has worked with the unconventional siblings and if the results are even a fraction as good as their previous collaborations ( Hail , Caesar !, Burn After Reading , etc ) we ’ re in for a treat . As with all of Clooney ’ s movies , the cast is absolutely terrific and includes Matt Damon and Julianne Moore . As for the plot , that sees a seemingly perfect family struggling to recover following a deadly home invasion .
If you ’ re wondering about the unusual title , it ’ s the name of the not-so-idyllic town where the action takes place . Trust us , this one ’ s going to be great .
