Still with us ? Fantastic , because we ’ re just getting started . As those keeping score will know , Thor was conspicuously absent from 2016 ’ s Captain America : Civil War . So , where the heck was he ? Well , as it turns out , he was enjoying “ me time ” in Australia with his “ average , everyday ” flatmate Darryl . We know this thanks to the short but official Team Thor video , which was released in August last year ( check it out on YouTube if you haven ’ t seen it already , it ’ s absolutely hilarious ).
So , is Thor still in Oz at the start of Ragnarok ? Nope . Sometime around October 2016 , Thor ’ s holiday Down Under came to a crashing halt . We know this thanks to the Doctor Strange mid-credits sequence , which sees Strange and Thor in New York City discussing Thor ’ s dad Odin ( who has disappeared ) and Thor ’ s mischievous brother Loki ( who is also in the Big Apple hunting for his pop ).

going down . Phew ! ( On the plus side , he does get to wear his famed winged helmet for a bit !)
Apocalypse Now If you ’ re wondering about the film ’ s epic title , Ragnarok means ‘ Twilight of the Gods ’ in Norse mythology , and alludes to an apocalyptic battle in which many of the Norse gods lose their lives . We ’ re guessing this bit has something to do with Cate Blanchett ’ s Hela , AKA the Asgardian Goddess of Death . She ’ s the one making mincemeat out of Thor ’ s beloved hammer Mjölnir in the film ’ s psychedelic trailer . She ’ s also the first major female villain in the Marvel film universe and a known compatriot of Thanos in the
