Open Mic

Written by , Eva Mackinnon , S5
On the last day before the holidays , our very popular open mic happened in the south learning plaza , hosted by the music department . It was a great turnout and after nearly a year since Mr Alford sang Mr Brightside at Children in Need last year , he returned with " I Knew You Were Trouble " by Taylor
Swift , with audience participation ! We also had great performances by Mr Strachan and Mr McLean playing guitar , Rose Moncrieff with " Run Fast " and many others- there were many performances so I couldn ' t keep up with all the names and songs , but you know who you are ! Thanks everyone for coming and hopefully there is another open mic soon .

The house points season is up and running again ! Last year , Fullarton won the competition followed by Darley , Welbeck and Lothian .
What ' s new this year ? This year , the house point competition will be split up across two terms : September – December will act as a half-way point and the winning house will be awarded the Marr House Cup and an afternoon of fun . Then , points will roll over to the January – June term and the winner of this will be awarded the mystical grand prize . As well as this , teachers will now be able to award house points through the ' Merit System ', using the class register program , SEEMiS .
How do I Get House Points ? House points can be awarded :
• Participation Awards – attending clubs , teams etc .
