Q : How long have you worked at Marr ?
A : “ I have worked here for 11 years now , I started way back in 2012 . The time has flown by – it feels like only yesterday I was walking through the doors for my first day !"
Q : What is your favourite thing about your job ?
A : " My favourite thing about working here is the people . I love working with the wonderful students we have here and the fantastic staff from all across the school – I know I am really lucky to work with such great people .
Q : What is your favourite thing to teach ?
A : " Oh that is a tricky one ! We offer so many different subjects in the department , Business , Admin , Accounts and more . and I enjoy them all ! I don ’ t know if I could pick a favourite – they are all really interesting and useful in different ways .”
Q : What things do you do as an MIEE ?
A : " I am part of the Scottish Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert ( MIEE ) team and take part in Scottish and UK calls . I first got involved back in 2019 when I applied to be an MIEE because of my role as Digital Champion here at Marr . Being part of the team has been a fantastic help , especially during lockdown , and I have learned so much from teachers across the country . I have also had the opportunity to present to people from across the UK and beyond and learn from the Microsoft product developers in America . This year we applied and were successful in becoming a Microsoft Showcase School for the 2nd year in a row , making us 1 of only 3 schools in Scotland to gain the award , this means we are part of a Global Team of Showcase Schools which has been amazing ."
Q : What do you like to do in your spare time ?
A : " I love reading and also listening to music - I have an eclectic taste ! I also enjoy hill walking - anything with some nice views is perfect . I recently started needle punch and made my first cushion at Christmas . I like catching up with friends and family and also enjoy baking , especially cakes ."
