FALL ACTIVITIES AT BUCKTAIL HIGH SCHOOL
School is back in session this fall, and the Bucktail campus halls are filled with eager students ready to“ fight forward” together. Students kicked off the year with a fun-filled campus-wide PBIS Reward Day on Friday, September 18th. The theme was“ Glow Big or Go Home” to promote the neon football game that night. High school sports teams and band members operated stations at which student groups rotated through during the afternoon. The stations included football throwing / kicking challenges, tug-of-war, parachute fun, face painting, popsicles, and an inflatable obstacle course.
More recently, our students raised money in honor of Dolly Parton. All proceeds will be donated to the Renovo Community Library. Students also wore pink on Friday, September 25th, for Dolly Day.
We are gearing up for the historical tradition of the 77th Flaming Foliage Festival on October 10th & 11th. Recognized as a PA State Festival with the largest parade in the state, roughly 30,000 visitors are expected in the small town of roughly 1,100 residents. The festival has grown exponentially since 1949, originally taking place in the field below the Hyner Bridge, and is now a major part of Bucktail High School tradition. Since the start of the festival, seven Bucktail seniors have won the coveted title of Flaming Foliage Queen. This year, senior Emma Getz hopes to become number eight. Arionna Winkelman and Riley Salizzoni will serve as hostesses of the historic event. Kassidy Lovell will represent Bucktail at the 2027 Laurel Festival.
The Bucktail Homecoming football game and crowning of Homecoming King & Queen will happen on Friday, October 9th, at 7pm.
