PANKAJ & NIDHI: MOSAIQ Debuting in the couture segment, designers Pankaj & Nidhi presented ‘Mosaiq’, a collection inspired by art forms that were prevalent during the Byzantine era. The collection features 3D hand-cut appliqués in metallic fabrics; numerous elements were intricately used to create a magical effect on tulle satin and organza. The colours were a grand mix of grey, citrine, yellow, sapphire, molten gold, and silver that adorned billowy gowns and other kinds of festive wear. 94 I APPAREL I October2019 Mishra FASHION SPEAK RAHUL MISHRA: MALHAUSI MONACO Inspired by y his travels to Monaco and his sleepy village, Malhausi in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Mishra brought about the stunning imagery of both these places in his collection ‘Malhausi Monaco’. There was a delightful play of floral motifs with architectural designs along with 2D and 3D hand-embroidery for surface ornamentation. The line featured Swarovski crystals and silk threads that recreated the eye-catching landscapes of Malhausi, think rich green forests and lakes, along with the picturesque streets of Monaco. Silhouettes moved from traditional bridal lehengas, cholis, and dupattas to elegant floor- length coats, long and lean gowns, ornate minis, jackets, kurtas, and tunics. Menswear comprised ethnic pieces, which were delicately embroidered.
