SULAKSHANA MONGA: THE CULTURAL CASCADE SCADE As a part of her label el Soltee, Sulakshana Monga’s a’s 2019 couture collection, titled ‘The e Cultural Cascade’, reflected the beauty, y, heritage, and traditional textiles les of Varanasi. Restricting her colour our choice to just seven, the designer r put an emphasis on embellishments by bringing in nakshi and dabka embroideries, sequins, Swarovski crystals, feathers, ghungroos, raffia work, ork, and lace for ethnic as well as fusion sion creations. The lehenga-choli-dupatta atta trio, along with other interesting forms rms of evening-wear, made for exquisite bridal couture. APPAREL AP A P PPA P A R RE E L PA SHYAMAL AND BHUMIKA: THE RENAISSANCE MUSE Bringing in grand bridal pieces, ‘The Renaissance Muse’ by Shyamal and Bhumika unveiled shararas, lehengas, blouses, saris, and jackets for women and sherwanis, churidars, and kurtas for men. The embroidery was rich with zardozi and beading that was complemented by floral motifs and cutwork. Colours played a riot on the ramp with bright reds, wine reds, greys, and powder blues moving into navy blues, olives, mints, fennels, and emeralds, and finally almonds and vintage creams. Georgette and tulle brought the creations to life, while asymmetric hemlines, cowl dresses, peplum tops, and accented sleeves created a party of sorts on the ramp.
