Lead Professional Adviser
Based at London Bridge, SE1
Full time, permanent (35 hours per week)
Salary circa £52,500 per annum plus benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists for a highly skilled occupational therapist to help
lead and shape the profession, taking responsibility for managing the Professional Advisers within the Professional Practice team.
The Professional Practice team is responsible for:
• promoting the profession through influencing in the UK
• providing visionary leadership for professional practice
• providing support for members to be effective and excellent practitioners and
• encouraging member engagement through RCOT branches
As a member of the Professional Practice Team, you will represent the profession across all four UK countries. You will therefore need
to demonstrate:
• an understanding of health and social care policy across all four nations and
• an appetite to promote the value of the profession.
The post combines policy and public affairs and requires liaison with key stakeholders, such as: other professional bodies and
Government departments, and campaigning on behalf of the profession. As Lead Professional Adviser you will understand and explain
how government policy in health and social care impacts upon the occupational therapy profession.
You will need to be an effective communicator in order to liaise with health and social care officials, other professional body
representatives, leads from national voluntary organisations, politicians and occupational therapy members using knowledge and skills
to influence and inform. Other key areas of responsibility will include management of the Professional Adviser team and delivery of time
limited projects.
