“ You know what , leave . You can have another day of this while Scott goes to Vietnam !” Admiral Dellacon exclaimed . “ Now you want to make it two ?”
Todd didn ’ t say a word . He just walked away . When Scott went to get some food , he saw Todd on the phone . Later in the bunkhouse , he saw Todd sitting on the floor , nose deep in a book . “ Who were you talking to Todd ?” Scott asked in a serious way . “ My dad .” “ Why in the world would you want to talk to your dad now ?” “ Because Admiral Dellacon is making me stay for an extra day . I don ’ t want to admit it , but I don ’ t think I can make two more days of this ,” Todd explained .
Scott didn ’ t say a word . He just sat beside Todd until they both hopped into bed .
The next day , everything went flawlessly . Todd actually behaved , even waking up and getting dressed before Scott . Not only that , he outdid him in every exercise , and then something happened .
“ Todd , come over here right now ,” Admiral Dellacon shouted , calling him into a room . When Todd came out , he looked like a kid in a candy store . “ I ’ m not staying an extra day ,” he said .
. . . “ Here we are , Vietnam ,” Scott said . He was definitely trying to make it look like he was being brave , but he didn ’ t do a very good job . “ Yes , we are definitely here ,’’ Todd replied in a very , very awkward way .
They could already hear bombs , explosions , and gunshots . “ Todd Carey and Scott Treeweiler ?” a man called . “ My name is Lieutenant
Marshall . Come with me . You are heading into battle .” “ What ?” Todd whispered “ Already ?”
