On 9th February we have had our annual Pet Day.

Do you like animals? Well, I do! Pet day was really awesome. I’ve got to tell you what it was about and what happened. At Oakwood School, we have pet day every year. On pet day, children from the school bring in pets.

On Pet day some parents have brought in various pets to show everyone in school. The head teacher bought in his grey and white parrot. She spoke about what she did at home and how good she was. My favourite was the white furry hamster, it was very quiet but extremely active. We stroked a very cute ginger cat. We also saw Zaky’s colourful Parrot, he copied every word we said, everyone really enjoyed pet day. It was a wonderful experience especially for those of us who do not have pets.

When I found out about the pet day I was so excited. The day came round as quick as a strike of lightning. I was in Quran and Arabic when suddenly there was a knock on the door….

The door opened with a swinging cage coming into sight. Looking in the cage I wondered what was in it. There were 2 Guinea pigs in the cage called Rosie and Goldie. I was lucky because I was able to stroke them. They were shy by the look of it but we were able to feed them and find a few facts about them. A key fact about Guinea pigs is that they are also called cavy.

The second animal was a cat. His name was ginger and he was a ginger color. He was sitting in his carrier until all of us children came and started to stroke him and play with him but he kept on moving. The owner said that he loved playing with a laser. His nick name was Billy. I loved him because he was so calm and gentle not like any other animals. Then ginger had to leave and the next pet was coming. A key fact about Tabby cats is that they are very common felines, but they’re not a recognised breed.
