College Diversity Team
The Mission of NWTC ’ s Diversity Team is to advise the director of Diversity and Inclusion , to advocate for initiatives that will facilitate the progress of diversity at the College , to challenge practices that hinder the fulfillment of the College ’ s vision for equity , and to support innovations that stimulate and advance diversity and inclusion .
The Diversity Team will enhance the college environment with focus placed upon equity and developing an inclusive climate , which supports student and community needs / trends and the cultural competency of its employees .
The Vision of the College ’ s Diversity Team is to embrace the stated definition of equity : Meeting all students where they are and removing barriers to success so that students can achieve course and program completion and attain a life sustaining career . The Team will enhance cross-cultural understanding , break down stereotypes , and improve learning outcomes to prepare students for a diverse global workforce and society , with the goal of making NWTC the destination of choice for students and employees .
Predicted Results for the College : PACE survey results related to workplace and student diversity remain above the norm Identified student populations are meeting the Dream program completion goals as measured by one and two year program completion rates Achievement gap decreases Employees working and students attending NWTC understand and embrace the value of cultural diversity in our communities Benchmarks for equity and cultural engagement are created
