College Diversity Team Core Group Work
Working on the centralized goal of creating a welcoming environment for staff retention (recruitment), a core
team has been assembled to create the framework for a welcoming environment for diverse staff based on
and guided by current staff.
A social event was put together with focused dialogue around NWTC’s climate in terms of welcoming and
supporting diversity. The core group decided to start with small group of employees – inviting diverse,
benefit-eligible staff, including veterans and LGBTQ if self-identified.
Data from the session is currently being analyzed by the team. From the data, the team hopes to develop
and improve practices related to NWTC’s environment, on-boarding training, and retention of a
diverse workforce.
