Progress and Parental Consultation
A curriculum information evening for parents takes place throughout the year. There are three formal
opportunities to discuss your child’s progress at parent’s evenings. However, we are happy to talk to
you about your child and answer any questions as they arise.
If you have any concerns about your child, do not hesitate to make an appointment with a member of
staff.
Photography
The council requests photograph permission for various experiences. You will be given a copy of this
when you enrol your child and will be asked to sign a photography consent form as your permission is
needed to allow photographs/videos to be taken and displayed in the nursery.
Transition to Primary One
Throughout the school year, Pupil Portfolios are compiled for individual pupils. After discussion with
parents/carers, this information and a formal report is shared with primary colleagues. Throughout
the school year we engage in ‘Play Pals’ as an initial step to transitioning to the school environment.
During this time children visit the P1 classes and buddy up with the children for some activities. Play
Pals usually begins in January. Children who attend the nursery and are then granted a place at TCSOA
participate in transition activities with the P1 teachers during May and June. Children who will attend
other local primaries are given opportunities to visit their school and meet staff. More details of
activities are communicated via the nursery and school newsletters and the nursery notice board.
Staff Development
Staff Development Time and Staff In-Service Training Days (INSET) provide opportunities for staff to
keep up-to-date with curricular matters and new developments in Early Years Education.
