On Par Welcoming our New Club Captain, Mr Winston Toh By Sheena Anne-Marie, Senior Executive (Corporate Communications) We extend a warm welcome to BG (Ret) Mr Winston Toh who took over from Mr Tan Kah Han as our new Club Captain from 1 July 2020. Mr Toh is currently the Managing Director of Tower Transit Singapore. Some of his previous appointments include being the Chief Marketing Officer in Singapore Technology Engineering Land Systems, Deputy CEO at the Workforce Development Agency (Now known as Skills Future and Workforce Singapore), General Manager in ST Electronics e-Services Pte Ltd. In the Singapore Armed Forces, Mr Toh was a Guards Officer and a SAF regular for 27 Years and continued another 10 years as ORNS / Volunteer until his retirement in 2017. He is also currently the President of the Singapore Armed Forces Veterans League. Mr Toh describes himself as being more of a social golfer. He says “ I still have not achieved a holein-one even though I’ve been golfing for about 24 years. I enjoy golf for the challenges it brings and the comradeship of fellow golfers.” He goes on to say that it is a game which shapes his character and discipline. It is a game that will probably take him a life time to perfect. “Someone once told me that golf stands for Go On Learning Forever, and I think it is true. I started golfing in 1996 while I was in the Army due to the need to interact with our foreign Army friends. But it quickly became a good weekend pastime,” Mr Toh says. Golf is very much a rule based game, and also a game of respect for each other on the course. “I hope that we will all respect our constitution, byelaws and golf rules to ensure that we can golf safely and enjoy the game,” says Mr Toh. In his new role as Club Captain, he hopes to be able to continue supporting NSRCC’s role in appreciating the contributions of NSmen by looking at how we can better support members and their families in enjoying their game of golf. This role would also enable him to socialise and meet more of our members, and better understand their concerns and bond with them as well. He hopes to provide our members with a positive golfing experience and also focus on making the game of golf appealing to our younger generations of NSmen.
