On Par
Bidding our Club Captain
Mr Tan Kah Han a Fond Farewell
By Sheena Anne-Marie, Senior Executive (Corporate Communications)
A
memorable nine years it has been for Mr Tan Kah Han, who has stepped
down from his appointment as Club Captain of NSRCC. Over these
years, Mr Tan has organised many successful golfing events together
with our Club Management, and also contributed to several key projects.
As a Co-Chairman of the Redevelopment Committee,
some of the notable projects that he was involved in
included the reconfiguration of the 1st tee in 2015 and
also the 18-month construction of the Sky Range.
Mr Tan was also a member of the Strategic Review
Committee in 2014, which was formed to chart the
future of NSRCC and to review the objectives of
NSRCC and ensure that we continue to serve our
purpose as the Club of choice for NSmen.
In parting, Mr Tan says: "For me, it has been an
honour and privilege to serve this truly unique Club.
I say unique because NSRCC is unique from three
perspectives; 1) the sole purpose of the Club is to
serve NSmen and their families in recognition of their
contribution to our National Defence , 2) The two
golf courses have probably the highest utilisation on
a daily basis seen not just in Singapore but also in
this region. In particular, Changi location’s utilisation
is 100% everyday! At the same time, we all can be
proud of the conditions of our courses and they are
a joy to play on. As a Captain, when I host other
Captains to a game, the feedback that I usually get
is ‘the condition of your course is amazing in spite
of the heavy usage”, 3) Innovative and creative use
of limited resources. A fine example would be the
Skyrange which is truly unique.
It has also been a joy to serve the Club because
of the close working relationship between Club
management/staff and the various Committees. For
this, I would like to express my gratitude to past and
present Club Presidents for their confidence in me.
A big thank you also goes to Heng Chew and his
team, and my fellow committee members who have
worked tirelessly in ensuring that the Club delivers
its promise to NSmen and their families to the best
of our abilities. To all the members, thanks for the
support, feedback and patience. Lastly, my best
wishes to Winston and his team to continue the
proud tradition of voluntary service that is uniquely
NSRCC!"
We bid Mr Tan a fond farewell and wish him all the
best in his future endeavors.
