He was born on June 22, 1955, in Lancaster, a son to the late Raymond Curtis, Sr., and Sheila (McAuliffe) Hartford. He was a life-long resident of North Stratford, a 1974 graduate of Stratford High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. After his military service, Michael worked at the Washburn Lumber Mill for a period of time, and later at the Groveton paper mill for more than twenty years. At the time of his passing, he was employed at the Beecher Falls Division of Ethan Allen. Michael’s family was his friends who will all miss him dearly. He enjoyed being with them all the time, kayaking and canoeing, riding ATVs, hunting, or whatever it might be. He leaves behind one daughter, Karen Lefebvre of Colchester, Vt.; a sister, Sharlyn Jordan and husband James of Morgan, Vt.; a brother, Bradley Curtis of Bloomfield; and three grandchildren. Michael is predeceased by a brother, Raymond “Sonny” Curtis, Jr., and an infant sister, Priscilla. Calling hours were on Tues., Nov. 1, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins and Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A funeral service was held the next morning, Wed., Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in North Stratford with Pastor Cindy Grassi officiating. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and Bingo, but the thing she loved most was spending time with her family. Lorraine is survived by 10 children, Linda Sparapani of Jupiter, Fla., Jeanne and Richard Havrda of Stratford, Deborah and Mark Frank of Lancaster, Cheryl and Ernie Black of Rochester, Karen Langley of Campton, Judy and Paul McGinnis of Oxford, Conn., Anita and Ron Pelchat of Lancaster, Gale and Sue Soule of Trumbull, Conn., William and Linda Soule of Milford, Conn., Robert Soule Jr. and Sandra of Fitzwilliam; one daughter-in-law, Marge Soule of West Haven, Conn.; 36 grandchildren; 61 greatgrandchildren; four siblings, Philip Paquette, Gertrude Paquette, and Donalda Paquette, all of Milford, Conn., and Anita Robinson of Titusville, N.J. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert Soule, Sr. on Sept. 19, 1991; son Gary Soule on October 26, 2009; four sisters, Margaret Paquette, Pauline Paquette, Shirley Paquette and Marion Lauzon, two brothers, George Paquette and Paul Paquette. SOULE NORTH STRATFORD–Lorraine P. Soule, 92, formally of North Stratford and most recently Lancaster, died peacefully on Oct. 28, 2016 at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster were she had been a resident for the past two Vyron D. Lowe VYRON D. LOWE JEFFERSON–Vyron D. Lowe, 78, of Cow Path Lane, died Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 2016, at the Country Village Genesis Health Care Center after a period of failing health. Lowe was born in Whitefield on Sept. 19, 1938 the son of Gordon Alan and Norah (Daley) Lowe. He was raised in Randolph and graduated from Gorham High School and has been a longtime resident of Jefferson. Vyron is best known as the former owner of the Old Corner Store and Lowe Distributors in Jefferson. He also served the town of Jefferson as town clerk and for over 40 years as a Jefferson firefighter. Ten of those years he was Fire Chief of the Jefferson Fire Dept. He was also a N.H. Fire Warden and member of the N.H. Fire Wardens Association and he served for a time with the National Guard. He was a member of the Jefferson Grange and served as master for several years beginning in his late teens. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows. Vyron was an avid hunter and fisherman and made numerous fishing trips to the Miramichi River in New Brunswick with his father, sons and friends. For many parades and local events he provided music with his self made music trailer. He also enjoyed making maple syrup. Family members include his wife of 57 years Ruth (Campbell) Lowe of Jefferson; three children, Donald Lowe of Bow, Diana Lowe of Whitefield, Daniel Lowe of Berlin; a brother Gordon Alan Lowe, Jr. of Randolph; a sister Joyce Chaffee of Southington, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Carolyn Conway and Marion Horne. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m., in St. Johns Methodist Highland Chapel, Jefferson. Reverend Richard Boyden, pastor, will officiate. Burial in the Durand Road Cemetery, Randolph, will be held at the convenience of the family. BELVAH KING GROVETON–Belvah “Belle” King of Groveton passed away on Nov. 1, 2016 at Weeks Medical Center Hospital in Lancaster following a brief illness just four days before her 92nd birthday. Belle was born in Groveton on Nov. 5, 1924, the daughter of Harry and Rilma (Prince) McGuire, the third oldest of nine children. Belvah and her husband Ted were married in Groveton on Oct.12, 1943 by the Reverend Father Rodolphe Heon. She had been a long time employee at the Groveton Paper (Continued on page 20) Page 19
