Mill( James River) for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1987.
Belle loved gatherings and reunions of family members and friends and seasonal camping at their cottage on Maidstone Lake in Vermont where she, husband Ted, family and friends had 30 years of joyful living. She had been an avid reader and a lover of music which was instilled in her by her mother at an early age. Belvah and Ted were great lovers of snow machining. She and Ted enjoyed some traveling, cruising in the Caribbean on several occasions and visiting their son in Texas and McGuire family members in Ireland.
Belle was a most amiable person, warm and easy going and nonjudgmental. All who knew her will remember her unassuming cordial demeanor.
She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore“ Ted” King in
1999; three brothers, Forrest " Mickey "

McGuire, and Gary McGuire, and one sister, Betty Gould.
She is survived by her son

There will be no funeral parlor visiting hours or church service at her request. A graveside service will be held at St. Francis
Cemetery on the Brown Road in
Groveton on Saturday, Nov. 12,
2016 at 11 a. m. with Reverend
Brendan Whittaker officiating.

William D. Crooks, Jr.
WILLIAM D. CROOKS, JR. PITTSBURG – William Donald
Crooks, Jr., 87, of Pittsburg,
passed away on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center with family by his side after a period of declining health.
Bill was born on Aug. 18, 1929, and grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Elva( Leathers) and William D. Crooks, Sr. He was a U. S. Navy transport pilot serving during the Korean War and stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. After active duty, he served in the Navy Reserve until 1960, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and moved to Connecticut with his wife, Catherine Mary( Tetzlaff) Crooks, where they raised their family. He worked in electrical engineering at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and General Dynamics and in electronic systems sales until 1970.
Bill and his family enjoyed vacations in Vermont during the
1960s and relocated to West Burke in 1970. He owned Stony’ s, a clothing and sporting goods store in Lyndonville, and was later employed as a production manager by Mardon Industries and Vermont Aerospace Manufacturing in Lyndonville. Bill always looked forward to annual trips to Florida with his partner
Jane Paquette, gardening in his yard, woodworking, helping neighbors with their landscaping, and celebrations with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving extended family, including his partner Jane Paquette of Pittsburg; his three children: Charles
Crooks and his wife Kathleen
Brown of Jamaica Plain, Mass.,
Mark Crooks and his wife Linda of Lyndonville, Vt., and Anne
Amadon and her husband Timothy of Skowhegan, Maine; grandchildren Jamie Crooks, Jessica
Williams and her husband Justin, Jennifer Ward and her husband Preston, Katy Crooks,
Christopher Davis, Stephanie
Kenny and her husband John, and Lucas Davis; great-grandchildren Kain and Kara Crooks,
Charlotte, Emma, and Maddelyn
Williams, and Tenley Davis. He is also survived by his sister,
Charlene Crooks of Houston,
Texas, several nieces and nephews, and the family of Jane
Paquette, who loved their Uncle
Bill. He is predeceased by his parents, his sisters Patricia
Goode and Nina Brattain, and the mother of his children, Catherine Crooks.
Visiting hours will be held at
Jenkins and Newman Funeral
Home in Colebrook, NH, on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, from 10 a. m. to 12 p. m., immediately followed by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beecher Falls Vermont Fire and Rescue, Beecher Falls, VT

Irving R. Covell
IRVING R. COVELL
GROVETON – Irving R. Covell, 98, of Covell Heights, died
Monday morning Oct. 31, 2016, at Country Village Genesis
Eldercare Center.
Covell was born in West
Stewartstown on Jan. 19, 1918 the son of Arthur J. and Cora
( Knapp) Covell.
Irving was raised in West
Stewartstown and moved to
Groveton in 1936. He was self employed his entire life. He first operated a dairy farm for several years and later a construction company that he owned for
40 years. He also raised horses that he showed at the fair and he was regularly seen riding in local parades. He was a 50 year member of the Loyal Order of
Moose.
Surviving family members include his son, Thomas Covell of Groveton; four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife
Pauline M.( Carpovich) Covell; two daughters, Coral“ Candy”
Covell in 1997, Elizabeth Bean in 2016; three brothers, Almon,
Warren, Curtis; three sisters,
Naomi Heath, Esther Wood,
Idalyn Ellingwood.
At Irving’ s request there are no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the
United Methodist Church in
Groveton. Burial will follow in
Northumberland Cemetery.
