Making connections between concepts
being taught in the classroom and
deepening students' understanding
through hands-on experiences is a
primary goal in the Hughes library.
library lessons are engaging, rich in
content, and always include a literature
component - sometimes students don't
even realize they are learning!
"The library is my
favorite place in
the whole school!"
- Charlie, 3rd
grade student
"I wish we could
come to the
library everyday.
It's the best!"
- Mekhi, 5th
grade student
Technology is used in a variety of ways to
deepen student learning and invoke
exploration. Second through fifth grade
students use a Google Classroom
specifically created for the library to
search for books, use online databases,
read books online, and participate in
library class activities. iPad are available
to all students to use in creating projects
and for reading books online.
