A
nderson, an Oregon
native, has operated
airborne imaging systems
around the world, includ-
ing time in the Middle
East and Afghanistan. The
founders wanted to bring
the benefits of airborne
imaging to more appli-
cation areas, particularly
in civil and commercial
roles such as wildland
firefighting and endan-
gered animal protection.
The pair founded Over-
watch Imaging in 2016
in Hood River, a hub of
airborne imaging systems
technology. Davis also
serves on the board of
directors of the Gorge
Technology Alliance.
Overwatch Imaging
manufactures camera
systems for three appli-
cation areas: Earthwatch
for automated land sur-
veillance, Oceanwatch
for maritime patrol and
search, and Linewatch
for linear infrastructure
inspection. The common
thread is about finding
a needle in a haystack,
by using automated
imagery collection and
sophisticated image
processing to identify
small anomalies in vast
areas. Overwatch Imag-
ing systems have been
used in North and South
America, Europe, the
Middle East, Africa and
Australia.
