I
recently attended the
RedCabin Interiors Summit at
the historic Museum of Flight
in Seattle, Washington. This
summit was unlike the hundreds
of conferences, conventions and
networking events I have attend-
ed over decades in this industry.
RedCabin actually brought all
the parties to the table. Boeing
and Airbus executives were
present as both attendees and
speakers; airlines, seat design-
ers, seat manufacturers, key
contractors and more gathered
together for a two-day collabo-
ration of industry influencers.
I spoke with RedCabin Founder
and CEO Monica Wick about
what inspired her concept for
this unique event. “The aviation
industry is changing rapidly
to meet shifting consumer
demands and technological ad-
vances. As the aviation indus-
try evolves, the importance of
collaboration and open, honest
discussion between airlines,
manufacturers and designers
grows. I realized that specific
industry experts need a different
kind of platform where they
can meet and collaborate — our
summit is founded on that prin-
ciple. RedCabin provides an
independent connected platform
giving them a playground to
give birth to evolution.”
From my viewpoint it did just
that.
After a few introductions the
event began with a talk from
Boeing Vice President of Strat-
egy, Sheila Remes, who shared
some eye-opening statistics.
