Northeast Youth & Family Services
is proud to be an active part of the
northern suburban community, since its
start in 1976. NYFS serves over 4,000
people every year through mental
health counseling, day treatment
programs, senior chore services and
juvenile diversion programming.
And because it partners with 15
municipalities and four school districts
as well as local businesses, civic groups
and foundations, NYFS is able to
grow and change to meet emerging
community needs.

WBLAEF – ACCEPTING
DONATIONS FOR THE
CLOSET SOLID GROUND:
RESOURCES
FOR THE HOMELESS
The White Bear Lake Area Educational
Foundation (WBLAEF) is celebrating
25 years of enhancing excellence in
education. The Foundation supports
innovative classroom initiatives,
provides funding for students in need
and supports teacher learning through
professional development grants. Solid Ground is a local nonprofit that
prevents and ends homelessness for
families with children through housing,
resources and opportunity. Solid
Ground operates a variety of supportive
housing programs throughout suburban
Ramsey and Washington Counties,
serving over 100 families each year.
Solid Ground holds tours on the 2nd
Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to
6:30pm. Email [email protected]
or call 651-846-9027 to RSVP today!
The Closet is a dedicated space in the
White Bear Lake Area Schools district,
housed in the ALC (Area Learning
Center) where families in need can
come in and browse through clothing,
coats, shoes etc. (anything that can be
worn head to toe) for their students.
WBLAS students can shop for items,
free of charge.
Last year, The Closet served 88 families,
including 264 children from infant age
to adults. Over 30 volunteers donate
their time. WBLAEF appreciates
the support of the community! (The
students in the photo are from a Birch
Lake Elementary Student Council
blanket-making gathering, which
benefitted The Closet.)
To schedule a drop-off for The Closet,
please contact the staff office at 651-

Get involved! Volunteers are essential to
Solid Ground’s work and to the families
that it serves. There are many volunteer
positions, including tutors (youth and
adult), drivers, childcare assistants and
more! For more information, email
[email protected] or call
651-846-9024. Or, fill out a volunteer
application on the website (below).
Donate new and gently used household
items such as pots and pans, coffee
pots, and pillows (new only) to help
families make their new house a home.
Solid Ground does not need all items
at all times, so please call first: 651-773-
8401 ext. 1340.
