Gaining Closeness
to The Almighty
T
o those who have taken bayah (pledge
of tawbah), Congratulations! You have
overcome the first hurdle and trodden
the first step on your journey to Allah . May
Allah accept it from you and draw you closer
to Him. Ameen.
I have written this article with the intention to
pen down some advices for the beginners, and as
a reminder to myself and fellow salikeen (travellers
on the path). Through the guidance of your
Shaykh (spiritual guide), his duas (supplications)
and your own efforts insha’Allah you will draw
closer to Allah , for Allah has said in His
Glorious book,

“As for those who strive in Our way, We
will certainly take them onto Our paths,
and indeed Allah is with those who are
good in deeds.” (29:69)

Now comes the next challenge which is to try
to do those things that will draw the mercy
of Allah upon you. But whatever those
actions are, they must be done consistently and,
insha’Allah, for life!
One of the main principles of this blessed path
that we follow, the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi silsila
(spiritual order) is to adhere to the sunnahs (way
of life) of our beloved Messenger . This is the
single most effective method to attract the mercy
of Allah .
It goes without saying that, all those things
which Allah has made obligatory, are an
absolute must in the daily routine ascribed by
your Shaykh. There is no choice on those things.
But outside of those actions, there are others we
can introduce into our lives that will help if done
with sincerity.
What follows below, is some advice based on
what I have learnt in my short time with my
beloved Shaykh. Allah makes things easy for
us if we make a little effort.
