The academy enjoyed celebrating World Book Day this week by joining in with a wide range of exciting activities including jungle adventures and under the sea adventures. The children found out about a range of authors and produced some wonderful stories of their own.

The book swap and D.E.A.R bell were other highlights. You can find lots of photographs on our Twitter feed.

We also did our own version of the #maskedreader which can be viewed on our youtube channel playlist here

bbc supermovers day

Anyone remember back on the 13th and 14th February that there was a hive of activity at the academy with Premier League Trophy, mascots, visitors and lots more going on?

Well we can now give you further information that we had the BBC Teach's Supermovers team here recording for the upcoming Supermovers day that will

take place on Thursday 19th March.

Six of the Year 6 pupils were chosen to participate in filming to create the content, including a 20 minute active learning programme to help kick off the day and launching a free prize draw for schools to win Super Movers kit for schools up and down the country.

Keep an eye on our twitter account for more information as @bbcteach and @PLCommunities build up to the day through their social media channels.

NHS careers

Year 5's PSHE topic for next half term is looking at careers within the NHS. Last week, we were lucky enough to be joined by different people that work within our National Health Service and Year 5 classes were able to ask them questions about their job roles. A Doctor, a Critical Care Nurse, Bio-Medical Scientist, CIS Administration Leader, a General Practice Manager and a Social Care Lecturer all came into speak to our pupils and took part in a Question and Answer session. It was a fantastic afternoon.
