Newsletters | St John's Primary Academy Newsletter 6th March 2020 | Page 2

On Thursday 12th March we have author Natalie Pritchard visiting our academy. Natalie is the author of the Sea School series of books – ‘Monty the Manatee’ and ‘Sully the Seahorse’.

Natalie will be presenting a special story-telling session to the younger pupils, followed by some craft and writing workshops. We hope the visit will have a positive impact on all the pupils; inspiring their writing as well as promoting a love of reading.

headlice

Within each newsletter we are going to feature one of our Parent Guides. These informative guides can be found on our website here

In this issue we are looking at Head Lice.

• Head lice can’t be prevented but regular checking ensures early detection and treatment if necessary.

• Parents/carers should aim to check their children’s hair at least once a week during washing

• The Academy / Health Authority do not support alert letters as these are considered to be unhelpful and can cause an outbreak of ‘imaginary lice’.

• If a member of staff notices a living louse on a pupil’s hair then the parent is informed verbally of this fact and asked to treat the child.

• Check all family members and treat if necessary

We would encourage all parents to take time to read through the guide in full for further advice on detection / treatment.

Sport Relief | Friday 13th March

On Friday 13th March we will again be supporting Sport Relief. On this day we will invite all children to wear something red and ask them to donate £1 for not being in their normal school uniform.

In return we will be holding a number of special events in school for the children to participate in and enjoy.
