St John's Parent's Association
St. John's Parents Teachers Association raises money for the school through various events during the year. Our main priority is to raise funds for the school to make our children's primary school years as enjoyable as possible.
The PTA team plan and organise set events during the calendar year for the children at St Johns Primary Academy.
For a flavour of some of the things we do in the PTA, here is a time line of the events we ran in 2019.
Spring into Spring
Our first event of 2019 in April supported the school theme of physical and mental wellbeing with the sponsored event. Children completed a fitness course on equipment funded by PTA funds.
Summer Fayre
On one of the hottest days of the year, in June we held our annual Summer fete. Families enjoyed a BBQ, Bouncy Castle, visit to the ice cream van and a wide range of stalls as well as displays from local groups. Our first cake competition was won by Grace Hill in 2BL!
End of term parties
For the end of the Summer term, children in all years enjoy parties with different entertainment for each cluster of year groups. Including of course the Year 6 leavers party complete with donut wall!
Bonfire night
Remember, remember the 5th of November! Working in Partnership with First Essington Scouts/Guides we held our annual fireworks night.
The PTA team hold stalls with refreshments and light up wands. The evening was a great success and we had fantastic numbers come to enjoy the event.
Christmas
Our annual Christmas Fayre, complete with the Salvation Army band, tombola, gifts, cake stalls and many more is always well supported by the community attending. Even with the chance for children to visit the big man in the red suit himself!
Christmas Cards and Gifts
In addition to the Christmas Fayre, the PTA have also arranged with the support of all the teachers activities that the children took part in by designing Christmas cards, mugs, tea-towels and tote bags. These proved popular again and ideal as gifts.
All of these events/activities are a lot of fun as a result of time put in by the PTA to make them a success.
We hope to achieve the same again in 2020 and are looking for support in our PTA team. Our goal is to raise sufficient funds to support the purchase of an outdoor classroom.
