Why a Newsletter? A Newsletter opens a new channel of communication. The existing channels of communication are for our internal community but the newsletter opens up a new channel of communication with the external world. Publishing a regular newsletter can be an essential part of any communication strategy. Expanding the reach With newsletter we expand our reach. Students and faculty are an integral part of college's overall network but there are many people who are outside the campus but are interested in knowing what is happening in the college. Newsletter is for an extended audience. Newsletter will help in branding the college to external community, be it our own alumnus, prospective students, industries and many others. other societies also to come up with their own newsletters in case if they have already not done so. Our audience We first defined our audience which has to be targeted. The audience was our own faculty, staff and current students, alumni, researchers, society members and prospective students. Though we have begun with a single newsletter catering to all these, we have plans to separate out in future and bring out individual newsletters to each one of these segments catering to their specific needs ( open houses for newly j o i n i n g s t u d e n t s, n e w s c h o l a r s h i p s, international programs, new research projects etc) .
