News HKE Vol 1, Issue 2 | Page 2

Editorial A fortnight passed so quickly and we are ready with the next issue of the Newsletter. There were many apprehensions about the issue. Many opined that this frequency is too close and we may find it difficult to gather the news in this small interval, but the response from the institutes was so over whelming that we could gather material even for the next issue. There was also a big encouragement from the president and it was also so genuine that we were moved by it. The issue this time was brought entirely by Smt. Veeramma Gangasiri Women's college, Kalaburagi. The 'Editor of the issue' was from their college. We then thank here profusely for the support given by the Principal of V.G.Women's college Dr. Eshwarayya Math which was so warm and welcoming. We also thank the big helping hand lent by Dr. Shivaraj, HOD of physics department without whom bringing out this issue would have been well-nigh impossible. Dr. Shivaraj in his capacity as the “Issue Editor” has rendered Yeomen services to the Newsletter. Moving ahead, the next issue of the Newsletter will be due on 15th December 2018 and will be done by 'S. Nijalingappa Institute of Dental Sciences and Research', Kalaburagi. Dr. Satishkumar G.Patil , Vice Principal of the college has already accepted to shoulder the responsibility for this issue. The ownership for subsequent issue will be decided by the President of HKE Society and will be notified in due course. We at HKE Society are trying to set a new trend by bringing out a fortnightly online newsletter. Going further we want to make it a Video Newsletter but that may not be immediate. We are preparing grounds and are searching google to find if anyone has already experimented with such an idea. We found that VIT Vellore has had a hand at it and we do not know if there are many more. They have been bringing out a Digital Newsletter since last April 2017. (Click on this link to access their first issue https://youtu.be/QiLr3wYjk30 ) The publishing technology is growing fast and it is offering too many tools for us to experiment with. The tastes of people are also simultaneously changing keeping in step with change in technology. Now people are not content with just the written text, they want something more. They want things to be multidimensional, picturesque, with graphs, videos and audio. They want thing to be made available to them anytime, anywhere. They want things to be interactive, have intelligence embedded in them. Therefore we people who are at the business of providing news and views to our readers have to take cognizance of this fact and have to grow and live up to their expectations.
