Newport has seen a 7% decline in population from 2000 to 2014.
By 2040 it is expected to decrease by 24%.
In addition, aging population has been a trend for the last 30
years. In 1980, the median age in Newport was 28.7 and in 2010,
it was 36.4, about a 27% increase in age.
Newport has seen an increase in ages over 55 and a decrease in
the age groups under 55.
