Lindiwe Tapiwa Mlalazi
In many regards FundBabies is Noni’s baby and I have been fortunate enough to have come along for the ride. Upon reflection I’ve found that not only has FundBabies been an amazing learning experience for me, it has also provided me with purpose.
At the beginning of this year I was determined to make it the “Year of Lindi” (ala Penny Harts from Happy Endings). Well after a rocky start and a rocky middle I think that I will be ending off 2014 with a lot more than I started with, largely due to my involvement with FundBabies. Having had the opportunity to interview some amazing people has really opened my eyes to the potential of others and my own potential, something that I realise is necessary to succeed.
I grew up thinking that life followed a specific pattern that could not be disturbed: you go to school, you go to university, you start working, you have kids, you continue working (to support said kids), and then you retire- which is when you will really start to enjoy life. This past year has shown me that there is so much more to working than earning a salary at the end of the month. If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, is it really worth pursuing? If you dread going to work every single day, is that salary really worth it? I don’t have all the answers but I know that if you’re fortunate enough to be able to pursue your passion- you should do it and success will follow.
2015 will be the “Year of FundBabies”- we have some amazing things planned and I hope to not only grow within FundBabies but for it to grow even more than it has now
