CLUB CAPTAIN’S REPORT
What a year! Has there ever been a better year in the Club’s history? I don’t think so.
To start with, we had two extra teams; Colts Under 20, and a Women’s team, giving us a
total of seven teams in the open grades. No other club had more teams.
Secondly, five of our teams (Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4, and Colts Premier), made it into the top
four of their championship, and another team (Colts Under 20), got into the top four of the
plate section.
Thirdly, four of these teams made the final (Divisions 1, 3, 4, and Colts Under 20), with
our Division 1 team winning the championship for the first time in 29 years. Congratulations,
well done – the Club is proud of you all.
It was very pleasing to see us having a Colts Under 20 side which we had been trying to
get for a number of years and having a Women’s team once again, with most of their players
coming from Aranui High School.
I would like to thank everyone involved; coaches, managers etc. for their efforts and for
doing such a great job for their teams.
Congratulations to all the players who were selected for higher honours, especially Ryan
Crotty for becoming the Club’s 4th All Black.
Special thanks to Roddy Butt, Derek Davidson, Wayne Turner, and Ken Paterson for
making my job easier with all their hard work. Thanks also to Denise Paterson for being
secretary of our rugby sub-committee again.
A big thanks to all the volunteers who gave up their time to do the jobs required to get the
Saturday matches up and running. Thanks also to our loyal supporters each week. Thanks to
the people involved with the Rugby Academy for their work also.
Finally, I must congratulate Aaron McCoy on being the winner of the Club’s Player of the
Year award. I donated the trophy for this and Aaron was a very worthy recipient.
It has been an honour to be your Club Captain in such a great year in the Club’s history. I
am very confident that with what we achieved this year and with a lot of work already being
done, next season will be a great one again for the Club.
I would like to take this opportunity to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year. Have a safe summer.

CLUB CAPTAIN
RDO REPORT
What an amazing year. Our season has been well documented so I will make this short but
I would like to thank everyone again who has contributed and a few others who may not been
mentioned yet either at prize giving or in the many articles in the papers.
Thanks to Ken Paterson for all the work you do at the club during the day. Thanks to Geoff
Alcock for being a sponsor, but also for being a referee liaison officer for the Division 1 side
this year. This has been a problem area in our club for a long time and Geoff broke down a
lot of boundaries this year with the Division 1 referees which can not be underestimated. All
our teams need to continue to improve our referee relations.
Thanks to all the coaches who were happy to work together for the benefit of the club
regarding player movement. You guys helped each other out many times which kept us
strong as a group.
