The twelve-foot floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors behind the dining room table maximize the picturesque ocean views , bringing a bit of the outside in . The deck , perfect for outdoor entertaining and sunset gazing , has dining and lounge furniture and an outdoor television . “ Both the second- and third-floor decks have glass partitions versus wooden rails to maximize the ocean views ,” says Blakely .
The third floor of the house serves as an additional lounge space with more stunning views , including a den with a wet bar , and a fifth bedroom with an en suite bathroom . The intricate stairway detailing was designed by the Blakely team , as well as the interior cabinetry . The climate-controlled wine room takes the cake as one of the most unique rooms in the home , enclosed in glass walls with more custom cabinetry and a stone accent wall , a nod to the husband ’ s love and history in stonework . The client started out in masonry even though he currently works in technology .
“ One of their top priorities was to incorporate elements that had personal meaning to them . You ’ ll find the same stone peppered throughout the interior and exterior of the home .” says Blakely , describing one of the major features that displays a meaningful element of the client ’ s story .
To increase space in one of the small rooms , built-in drawers were added to the stairs going up the second floor , as well as into the bottom of the custom bunk beds , made for the grandchildren . That way , the room can be utilized for both sleeping and additional storage .
Casual coastal with a touch of whimsy is the vibe the Blakely team went for in this southern Maine home , and they ’ re thrilled to have been able to work with the clients throughout the whole project . “ From top to bottom , inside and outside , this home was intentionally designed for family gathering and entertaining ,” says Blakely . “ This home offers everything our clients need for memorable summers for generations to come .” ◆
