ROOMS TO LOVE

Wild Blue

Blakely Interior Design made the most out of this narrow space , creating a perfect cerulean retreat . PHOTOGRAPH BY GREG PREMRU
FROM THE DESIGNER : “ Renovating a historic home always requires ouside-the-box thinking , and this Newport summer home was no exception . Since the ceiling structure of this third-floor bedroom wouldn ’ t allow for traditional bunk beds , we designed a floor plan that could accommodate two built-in beds for young twin brothers . These custom designed , full-size beds fit perfectly into the space , and even have two pull out trundle beds , which are perfect for sleepovers . The room has a youthful feel , featuring playful elements like star patterned wallpaper and a light fixture , but is also mature enough for the boys to grow into over the years . Various shades of blue reflect both the family ’ s love of the beach and the coastal location of the home .”
FROM THE CLIENT : “ Our boys absolutely love their little hideaway . The Blakely Interior Design team nailed not only the understated aesthetic ; they were creative in space planning to maximize sleeping space , storage solutions and room to play !”
