FROM THE DESIGNER : “ The owners of this home enjoy surrounding themselves with family and friends , especially in the summertime . So , they embarked on a large renovation project which involved bumping out the front of the house — this room in particular is a new master suite placed above the freshly expanded kitchen . In the new age of working remotely , the couple wanted to extend their bedroom to include a quiet workplace . We created an area for a spacious desk and then also added a relaxing sitting area with comfy swivel chairs , ensuring that both spaces could allow them to appreciate the home ’ s water views and scenery . Since this project was completed during the COVID crisis , everything proved to be a tiny bit more difficult . The clients are from out-of-state , so scheduling visits to the project was challenging . Also , the different tradesmen had to be staggered so they weren ’ t on top of each other , which slowed progress . Although the project took longer than it normally may have , all came out well and just in time for the family to quarantine there for the majority of the summer . I also received my favorite compliment from the client : ‘ Kim , I absolutely love my room ! You ’ re the best !’”
