Pregnancy Yoga with me is so

full of encouragement and

support. From the Yoga yes,

from me as a teacher, but most

of all from the other member

of the group. I love all the little

things we talk about in our

informal get together with tea

and chocolate in the cafe area after class. We come up with all sorts relating to pregnancy, birth and beyond. Everyone has a little bit to add, and we are always learning new things. Students often come out of class and let me know they are feeling so much better, "Oh I am so relaxed now". They quite often let me know they are sleeping much better, feeling stronger and more positive about everything. I am sure that Pregnancy Yoga keeps you fit and mobile throughout most of your pregnancy if not all of it.

The breathing is the key to labour, that and the gentle movements and the knowledge that they might be able to have an active birth. Something that comes in very useful is some guided visualisations, imagining the baby coming into the world and into our arms. This is one of the visualisations that can come in most useful. Having that time in class to connect with baby maybe for the first time that day is invaluable. Learning to look at labour differently and the pain that comes with it. It doesn't need to be something to fear but something to look forward to knowing we have the techniques at hand, knowing we can handle it beautifully. We learn strength and confidence, we learn that we are infinitely capable, we learn to relax and let the body do its thing. We learn relaxing techniques that again will be invaluable in-between contraction and also while pregnant but also throughout our lives as mothers, women and beyond.
