Tasarım/Design Tüy kadar hafif mermer Ymer & Malta galerinin Paris’te gerçekleştirdiği ‘marbre poInts plume’ sergisi mermerin geleneksel kullanımına meydan okuyarak mermerle ince, hafif, şeffaf, adeta uçucu tasarımlar ortaya koyuyor. V alérie Maltaverne ve Rémy Le Fur’ün tasarımın yeni yeteneklerini ortaya çıkarmak ve sınırlı sayıda mobilya ve tasarım parçaları üretmek amacıyla açtıkları galerileri Ymer & Malta Paris’te gerçekleştirdikleri özgün sergilerle dikkat çekiyor. Cedric Ragot, Normal Studio, Benjamin Graindorge ve A + A Cooren gibi hem yeni, hem de tanınmış isimlerle çalışan galeri için üretilen parçalar Paris’teki Musée des Arts Décoratifs, CNAP (Centre National des Arts Plastiques) ve FRAC (Fond Regional d’Art Contemporain) gibi önemli kurumların koleksiyonlarına girmiş durumda. Galerinin ilk temalı sergisi ‘Marbre Poids Plume’ tasarımcıları geleneksel olarak mermerle bağdaştırılan özellikleri yeniden düşünmeye ve bu vasıflara meydan okumaya çağırarak mermerden ‘tüy kadar hafif’ nesneler ortaya çıkarıyor. Bu amaçla aylarca çalışan tasarımcılar çekici işleriyle malzemenin farklı özelliklerini ortaya koyuyor. 36 NATURA • MART-NİSAN / MARCH-APRIL 2012 FEATHERWEIGHT MARBLE ‘marbre poInts plume’ exhibited at Ymer & Malta of Paris challenges the forms and attributes traditionally associated with marble, creating light objects depicting the contemporary qualities of marble. Yazı-Text: ÖZLEM ALKAN k. Y mer & Malta is a Paris gallery founded by Valérie Maltaverne and Rémy Le Fur with the aim of highlighting new design talents and producing limited editions of furniture and design pieces. Like many of the artists it fosters, the gallery takes a young, fresh and dynamic approach, primarily following its own aesthetic. Their exhibitions featuring unique and limited edition works both by emerging and established artists and designers such as Cedric Ragot, Normal Studio, Benjamin Graindorge and A+A Cooren, attract much acclaim. Several design pieces have been purchased by prestigious institutions such as Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the CNAP (Centre National des Arts Plastiques) and the FRAC (Fond Regional d’Art Contemporain). Ymer & Malta’s first theme-based exhibition, called ‘Marbre Poids Plume’ meaning ‘featherweight marble’ encouraged designers to rethink and challenge the forms and attributes traditionally associated with the material in order to create the lightest objects out of marble. With this purpose several young designers worked for months creating intriguing designs depicting the timeless beauty of marble.
