As the fastest growing demographic in the United States, the Latino
vote once again remains front and center for this year’s election. In
addition to sharing recent research on the Latino community and the
issues that matter most to the Latino community, this session will
reveal Univision’s innovative approach for increasing voter turnout and
the many tools available to engage Latino and multicultural millennial
voters.
RON ESTRADA Univision
Ron Estrada is vice president of National Community Empowerment for Univision
Communications Inc. (UCI), the leading media company serving Hispanic America.
Based in Washington, D.C., Estrada is responsible for developing and nurturing strong
working relationships at both the local and national level with community organizations
and key stakeholders, including business, non-profit, and government leaders. He directs
programming related to UCI’s local empowerment managers representing 126 broadcast
and radio stations throughout the US and Puerto Rico. In addition, Estrada manages
the company’s external corporate social responsibility advisory board. Prior to Univision,
Estrada was a member of the executive cabinet and vice president for the National Council
of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Hispanic advocacy and civil rights organization
in the nation. Prior to NCLR, Estrada was the vice president of Marketing for the U.S.
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Estrada is a graduate of the University of Redlands and
resides in Fairfax, Virginia with his wife and two sons.

The explosive growth of “sharing” economy companies has
engendered a shift in the very nature of work. As these platforms big
profits for companies, the informalization of industry is dismantling the
benefits and labor rights that once made these professions pathways to
the middle class. Our panel will inspect this drastic shift, as well as the
growth of undervalued and often unprotected care work.
