Fynbos and fi re
Many fynbos species
are dependent on fi re for
pro-creation. The ash also
returns essential minerals to
the soil. New life in the form
of fi re-lilies soon appears
in the bleak fi re-ravaged
landscape, followed by
a profusion of bulbs,
re-sprouting shrubs and
seedlings.
