Dear Nomads
VICE CAPTAIN
Having come back from Nationals in Cape Town and the National Management Meeting I had renewed vigour and hope as the incumbent Captain for Natal as a club …………… It is amazing though how that energy can be challenged by a bit of weather and what appears to be becoming a very concerning trend in our club. To say that I am personally very disappointed might be an understatement. I have decided that I am not going to dwell on the negatives but rather focus on the positives of the Toti Game.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate Toti on the condition of their course ……… it gets better and better every time we play there. Another thing that struck me is that these smaller‘ off the beaten track’ courses that we play at really do need our support. It was evident from Tom, our JVC’ s interaction with the staff of Toti prior to the game that they wanted us to have Prize giving in the Lapa. Those of you that made the effort to play and stay for the prize giving would have realised why they wanted this to happen, let’ s hope that they can use some of the proceeds from the day to buy some new tables and chairs for the hall.
Despite some intermittent rain during the game the scoring wasn’ t that badly affected. Local knowledge definitely contributed to Colin Scorer winning the A Division on 35 points, but as he is not a Nomad I think it is pertinent to mention that he did count out Butch Armitage also with 35 points, so fortunately Butch you have now qualified for Gold Cup. Daryl Francios was the B Division winner on 33 points and Roy Hutton topped the C Division with a very commendable 37 Points. Very well done guys. Well done to Mike Mckenna for winning the Lotto Draw with ticket number 49. The Triple draw of 35, 33, 37 was not won and will carry over to the next game.
Prize giving kicked off a little earlier than usual and on the up side 51 of the 60 players that toughed it out stayed for it, which is definitely a positive and something that we would like to see continue. To the committee and every one that assisted us on the day, I would really like to say thank you very much for all your efforts, it is never easy with Mass Cancellations and Withdrawals and all concerned really stepped up to the plate and made the day a success.
Our next game is at Beachwood on the 19 th of April 2018 and let ' s hope we have the weather that all our fair weather friends need to remain committed to this wonderful Club.
