Changes as follows:
JUNIOR VICE CAPTAIN
As we all know the morning was chaotic as a result of the inclement weather,
with and a number of Nomads deciding not to play in the rain. We ended up
with a field of just 60.
It was decided to have the registration inside, not in the caravan due to the
weather. Helen and I tried to manage the situation as best as possible, by
reshuffling 2 balls and 3 balls into 4 balls where we could, but it was rather
chaotic. Thanks to John Ross and Roy Language for taking on the starting
duties in the rain, which couldn’t have been pleasant.
Thanks to everyone that helped on the day - Helen & Garth at the starting
table, Stephen with another well-presented prize table, Ian for doing the
scoring, Derek for taking a lot of time to get some great pictures and captions
of the Nationals tournament in Cape Town, and to Greg and Gavin for a good,
slick prize giving, despite the lack of a sound system.
Toti had originally requested we have our prize-giving in the Lapa area
outside. I decided it would not be suitable, due to the weather, which in
hindsight was the right call. I do think it could be a nice relaxed area to have
prize giving in the future, as the hall offered little in terms of more
comfortable seating, or a sound system etc. If the weather allows for it next
year, I think we should give it a try.
Eric, well done on the fines – we raised a decent amount considering the
number of people attending prize giving – with all due respect to Eric, we need
to try and keep fines to say 10 minutes max. A short, well run prize giving is
important to encourage people to stay.
The scores weren’t too bad considering the weather. A. Div 20 Players
Average 29.1; B. Div 19 players Average 28.0; C. Div 14 Players Average 29.3;
Days average 28.9
