services to persons with severe mobility impairments in KwaZulu Natal. In a really tough trading year, Greg Graham and his team met their target
for this beneficiary in difficult and depressed local economy.
11. NATIONAL CO-ORDINATOR FOR SA NOMADS NATIONALS
Butch Armitage did an excellent job in handling this portfolio, from arranging tee off times and accommodation venues. His co-ordinating skills
were severely tested when extremely late withdrawals occurred, but these were handled with his normal aplomb.
12. SECRETARY
Our secretary, Mick Sugden, has been a great asset to Natal Nomads, and has always been ready to assist and research for any dispute or
disciplinary hearing where the rules need to apply. Mick has continued to research the rules in an effort to maintain continual improvement in the
efficient administration of the organization. Mick retires from the committee this year after over 40 years of service to the Club, and I wish him all
the best, as he now will concentrate all his efforts on improving his golfing skills.
13. GARY PLAYER KNOCK OUT
Our past Captain, Janus Horn was in charge of this tournament. The tournament ran smoothly and finished on schedule even with the shorter
playing year.
14. WEBSITE
Arnold Neveling has taken charge of this portfolio and set up the local Kwazulu Natal website, so all members are kept up to date with sponsorship,
marketing information and photographs. Arnold has overcome most of the teething problems, and the website is looking great. Arnold is always
striving for continual improvements and is always open to suggestions and support.
15. PHOTOGRAPHER
Derek Airey always ensured that a monthly slide show is up to date and new photos are updated on our website. Keith Moors has been ready to
assist when Derek has been away.
16. MATCH SECRETARY
Helen Parker is such an integral part of our Club, and is very efficient and always helped me enormously as the Captain during my captain’s year. It
was a great honour to award Helen her 45 year badge at Umhlali on 22 February 2018.
17. PRIZES
Steve McClennan stepped into this portfolio after the sudden departure of Mark Avice DuBuisson. Although thrown into the deep end, Steve has
st
worked efficiently to collect and set up the prize table for our monthly games and is always the 1 to arrive at the club to set up the prize table.
Steve is generally the last person to leave to pack away the altar and trophies safely. Steve has also made sure that all the trophies are engraved
and are up-to-date for the next tournament.
18. EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING
Although under the pressure of coordinating the Bell Sheet and webpage, Arnold Neveling has run the equipment and clothing portfolio smoothly
and efficiently. It has been a pleasure to have Arnold on our committee.
19. JUNIOR VICE CAPTAIN
Tom Barff efficiently organized the Gauteng and Southern Natal Nomads to be at Drakensberg Gardens and Langham Edward Challenge Trophy at
Royal Durban Golf Club and Zimbali Golf Estate respectively. A special thanks to Greg Graham, Helen Parker and Steve McClennan for assisting
Tom.
